World Gone Crazy signals the first consolidated body of work by Bordalo II, with a very particular intention: social criticism. Thus, this series of works is characterized by the creation of imaginary scenarios that intend to present a deconstruction, or even a total inversion, of the preconceived notions of society and reality.
In these visual narratives, Bordalo uses a smaller scale, with greater detail, consequently also requiring greater attention on the part of the viewer. Framed in surreal everyday environments, animals are once again the characters of excellence and emerge as personifications of the human being. Bordalo reverses the usual roles of the actors, seeking to generate satires about our daily lives.
This is the series of works that most clearly seeks to convey an intention of sharp and acid criticism to some social stereotypes. These works often attempt to reproduce the sensation of the last seconds of a nightmare, trying to create the familiar sensation of awakening troubled by a subject, with a view to provoking reflection. In addition to the use of small waste, in this series Bordalo also uses ceramics to build its small characters.
